Entry: Lotus leaf Friday, April 09, 2004

On one of those lotus leaves where my mother was supposed to write her wishes on so as to be blessed by the temple, she didn’t know what to write. Upon consultation with my not very pro-Buddhism father, who said “Hot sex”, she eventually wrote eternal happiness, overflowing wealth and so on after she daren’t write the blasphemous “Hot sex” even as I cheered her on, hoping to be benefiting from the mentioned two words as it was a family kind of blessing.

Apparently Buddhism and hot sex seem to be mutually exclusive events, the same way when I asked if a monk could marry another monk. I don’t think that is very possible.

In the taxi on the way home, she said she should have written “Straight As, Straight son” as she proclaimed it to everyone in the cab, including my dad, who had a neutral stance towards homosexuality, and the taxi driver, whose stance I do not know. Damn. She my as well have written “Straits Times” or something as she started laughing hysterically. I secretly smiled within myself; she loves me, for who I am.
