Dear Mr. Haber,

You are such an inspiration. Your love and undying passion for chemistry is nothing but astounding.

The contributions you have made towards your country, Germany, and mankind can only be deemed as priceless. You solved the problem of reliance on the rapidly declining amounts of Chilean ammonia and we all owe it to you, and your friend, Carl Bosch. It was you who came up with the Haber process that revolutionalised the attainability of ammonia by making it from the cheap and abundant hydrogen and nitrogen gas, forcing them both, under high temperature, pressure and the presence of iron as a catalyst, to combine into ammonia. This would lead on to the manufacturing of explosives and fertilizers, both of which would eventually shape this world, in good ways and bad.

Germany you served with such loyalty and dedication during the war, settling the motor problems and also using the manufactured ammonia to produce nitric acid, which was important for the creation of chemical explosives and ammunition required for the war. Thus, Germany had a cutting edge above the rest as she was no longer dependent upon Chile and its bird droppings and would never have the chance to win the war.

So all in all, I must say that you are my hero, even if it meant that your life took a downward spiral a while after receiving the Nobel Prize. You loved your country and loved chemistry. What more can I say except for the fact that I think that you are just wonderful?
